DAILY SET COMPLETE
Guess the size. Spot what’s wrong.
Size Sleuth is a free size comparison game from The Dles. Resize a silhouette beside a fixed reference and see how close your sense of scale comes to reality. Each set has five rounds: the first three have one adjustable object; the last two have two, with exactly one out of proportion. Find it, fix it, and leave the correct one alone.
The dark object is locked and its dimension is shown. Every object uses the same scale. Read each object’s measured direction: body length, vehicle length, product width or diameter. All use the same physical scale.
Drag an orange silhouette sideways, or drag its corner handle diagonally to resize it. Zoom the scene and drag the background to inspect the proportions; Fit restores the view. In rounds 4 and 5, exactly one adjustable object is wrong and the other is already correctly sized. Find the wrong one and leave the correct one alone.
Lock in your sizes. The true outlines appear over your guesses, alongside dimensions, errors and points. There is no time limit, and you can reset sizes before submitting.
Every round is worth up to 100 points, for a total of 500. The object that starts at the wrong proportion earns 0–100 points based on its final accuracy. A final size within 5% of the reference answer earns full marks. Half-size and double-size guesses receive the same accuracy score outside that tolerance.
In the last two rounds, one adjustable object is already correctly sized. Keeping it within 5% earns no bonus; changing it beyond that tolerance deducts 1–50 points. The incorrect object earns 0–100 correction points. The round score is correction points minus the penalty, from −50 to 100. For example, 80 correction points and a 20-point penalty give 60 points; keeping the correct object unchanged adds 0 points. Resizing an object and returning it to the correct size is safe: only the submitted size counts.
Daily gives every player the same five rounds for the UTC date. A new set arrives at 00:00 UTC. Unlimited lets you choose a mixed set or focus on Animals, Vehicles or Everyday Objects. Both modes keep their own statistics in this browser. Choose your topic at the Unlimited entrance. After a set, play the same topic again or choose another. Each theme awards a playful title based on your score. You can resume an unfinished Unlimited set from the entrance.
Choose Animals (127 objects), Vehicles (30) or Everyday Objects (30). Mixed can bring different themes into the same round: a familiar animal beside a vehicle, or a small mammal beside a household object. Objects are chosen within a comparable size range and do not repeat within a five-round set. Similar-looking animals or product variants are kept out of the same round, so the challenge is judging proportions rather than telling near-identical silhouettes apart.
Every object names its measured direction. Animals use adult head-body length, excluding the tail. Vehicles use the stated model’s overall, shipping or hull length. Everyday objects use their stated width, diameter or long edge. All values are converted to the same physical units for comparison. A generic car, bag or phone does not have one universal size: the reveal identifies the reference model or standard.
The 127 animal references come from COMBINE v4 reported traits (CC BY 4.0); snout-to-vent length excludes the tail. Vehicle and product values link to their manufacturer, issuing authority or published standard. Rounded values and maximum dimensions are identified in the reference notes.
Illustrations are schematic reference models, not exact technical drawings or measurements of pictured individuals. Animal art retains its PhyloPic contributor credits and individual licenses. Vehicle and everyday-object illustrations are original artwork made for The Dles. No manufacturer artwork or logos were copied. Browse all 187 objects, references and credits ↗
Both are visual size estimation games. Size Sleuth adds three-object rounds: one adjustable object is out of proportion and the other already starts correct. Fix the wrong one and avoid a penalty for changing the correct one. Size Sleuth is an independent game by The Dles.
Yes. Choose Unlimited, then pick Mixed, Animals, Vehicles or Everyday Objects. Each set has five rounds. Play the same topic again after the result, choose another, or continue an unfinished set from the Unlimited entrance.
The already-correct object adds no bonus. Your correction score comes from the object that starts wrong. Changing the correct object beyond the 5% tolerance deducts 1–50 points. Leaving every object untouched can still earn partial accuracy points for the wrong object; there is no automatic 50-point bonus.
No. Canvas zoom changes the view equally for all objects. Drag an orange object or use its corner handle to change your answer. Drag the background to pan and use Fit to bring the objects back into view. The displayed percentages compare with each object’s starting size, not its correct size.
A new Daily set is available at 00:00 UTC. Everyone gets the same five rounds for that UTC date. Daily and Unlimited progress and scores are kept separately in this browser.
